Star Crossed (Battered Hearts #2) by Kele Moon

My Rating 5 out of 5 Stars

You gotta love Romeo and Juliet.  This was a great book and I may have liked it more than the first.  A steamy one-night stand turns into unforgettable love story.  Juliet lives on the straight and narrow.  She is a lawyer who volunteers for her brother the Sheriff when he needs her.  While in Vegas she hooks up with Romeo, a MMA fighter and also her brothers long time enemy.
Romeo is stuck in his life because his brothers are sons of big time mafia.  He can't get his mind off of Jules and has to have her even if it is long distance.   They are quickly wrapped up in each other and their secret love affair.  I'm talking secret, hot, hot affair.  Even over the phone and online they are burning it up.  When he gets the opportunity to train in her small town he is gone.  By this time they are completely in-love with each other.
They both a very close bond with their sibling.  Jules and Wyatt are twins.  Romeo has spent his life taking care of his brothers.  Both of them love their family but realize they can't live without each other.  Even with all the things working against them, this Romeo and Juliet are going to get the happy ever after.

The Bane by Kearly Taylor

My Rating:  5 out of 5 Stars

This book made me crave my movie and television time. I found myself wrapped up in the story and suspense from the beginning. Picture "I am Legend meets Resident Evil" Eve remembers nothing before she arrived at Eden 5 years earlier. She is aware that she is different from everyone else in the colony but as long as she keeps them safe nothing else matters. Only 2 percent of the world's population survive the Evolution. The survivors banned together in the countryside, away from cities and electricity where the Bane flocked. TorBane was a technology that infused human DNA with cybernetic molecules. It had the ability to generate new limbs and organs, improve and save millions of lives. Within 3 months it morphed into something stinger and deadly. The technology was dubbed as "the infection" and could be spread by just touch. The cybernetics saturated every part of your body once you were infected making a soulless, human-looking machine, The Bane. Their goal: infect all.

At only 18 Eve as known nothing but surviving this world. The only emotion she feels is the need to keep the colony safe. That is until West shows up. She feels something is wrong with her and it is distracting her from her job. It takes her a while to realize it is her feelings for West and the one who has always been there for her, Avian. This love triangle is forcing Eve to open her eyes to what being human is all about, love.
The love story and romance fit right into this story. The decisions begin made and the fight for survival are all made worth it by the emotions of all the characters. I never lost faith or respect for Eve because you find yourself cheering her on as she learns how to handle her emotions. I have to admit I had no idea which guy to cheer for because I found myself as confused as Eve did. Both guys obviously love her and would die for her so how do you pick? We have to wait to the very end for her choice. It takes the unknown knowledge of which is infected for Eve to realize which she cannot live without. Even with the decision made I still want more. There are a few cliffhangers letting us know that more is coming. I can't wait! I'm unable to give specifics without giving spoilers so you will have to read it yourself.

Thank you to Keary Taylor and NetGalley for allowing me to read.

Fools for Love by Harper Bliss

My Rating 4 our of 5 Stars

This is the first High Rise story, but it introduces 4 characters.  The main focus is on Maddie and Alex.  Both girls have had their hearts broken and are trying to get on with their lives.  The other two characters, Nat and Isabella will have their story in the second novella.
Alex fights her attraction to Maddie from the fear of history repeating itself.  For that reason she tries shutting Maddie out completely.  This proves difficult because the 4 friends plan get togethers to eat and drink.  I'm pretty sure a couple of them are trying to set the girls up together or maybe looking for a reason to spend time together themselves.
Maddie has been in a secret relationship that just ended and needs to find someone to connect to.  If things don't work out with Alex she is leaving Hong Kong.  The couple take things slowly and realize they have found something in each other.
I look forward to reading the next installment in the HIgh Rise series.

Infinity (Valkyries:Soaring Raven) by Sedona Venez

My Rating 5 out of 5 Stars

This is a really great story and book.  We get vampires, shape shifters, magic, witches and more!  Infinity has been living the wild life of a rock star.  She had decided it is time to take control of her life.  Gone are the drugs and partying.  Infinity is becoming aware that things around her are not adding up.  One of her nearest and dearest is trying to control her and take over her life.  Her family is dysfunctional but they love her fiercely.  Her mother who took her in when she was an orphan keeps telling her trouble is coming.   Zoe and Diego are her best friends, choreographers and dancers are closest to her and have noticed people are missing and threats are increasing.  Public enemy number one is the Collective Corporation who is trying to stop her upcoming tour, even if that means ending her.  Infinity herself can can feel the darkness inside of her and her horrible dreams show her what will happen if she succumbs to the dark side.

Secrets have been kept and these secrets are powerful enough to destroy Infinity and everything she loves.  She no-longer knows who to trust or who to depend on.  She is being targeted my many and her new personal body guards may not be able to protect her, even if they are her true mates.

I was at the end before even realized and found myself screaming NOOO!  I cannot wait for book #2.  There are so many cliffhangers that I can't decide which one has me torn the most.
